Speeding Up Compilation Time with `scalac-profiling`

In this blog article, I’d like to introduce you to a new tool that we’ve developed at the Scala Center called scalac-profiling, which aims to help you better understand what is slowing down compilation in your project.

Partitioning Akka Streams for Scalability and High-Availability

Partitioning a stream externally can be an essential technique for maximizing the overall scalability and aggregate throughput of a streaming workload.

Bringing back power assert with Expecty

Power assert (or power assertion) is a variant of assert(...) function that that prints out detailed error message automatically.

Hot source dependencies using sbt-sriracha

What I would like, is a hybrid dependency that I can hook up multiple repositories, and code and test at once; but for publishing use Maven binary as the dependency.

Running akka-cluster on Kubernetes

Since kubernetes is becoming a standard way of running contenerized applications on multiple servers I want to describe how to run akka-clusters on kubernetes and how to develop such application.
Grzegorz Kocur (@GrzegorzKocur)
Scala 2.13 Collections Feature Freeze

Collections were redesigned from scratch for 2.13, therefore we are allocating more time for bug fixes and improved backwards compatibility after the feature freeze.
Stefan Zeiger (@StefanZeiger)
Speed up things in scalac and sbt

Scala is not the fastest language to compile. sbt adds its own overhead. So in a life of most (every?) business applications written in Scala, CI build is so long, that after git push you can go watch next episode of a TV show. Local changes take ages, even with Zinc. And you don’t want to rewrite half the stuff not has the budget for considering things like Triplequote Hydra. What then?

Objects vs Data Structures - Part 2 - When to use which?

This is the second video about objects vs data structures in which we will learn when to use which and most importantly what happens if YOU chose wrong! This video is very much related to the videos about subtype polymorphism and inversion of control. Among other things we will learn how Java lacks support for dealing with data structures whereas Scala comes prepared.

RELEASES

Slick-MongoDB-Driver

In this project we have developed Document and SumDocument data structures which enables mapping between mongodb collection and Scala client-side code. Underneath driver uses Slick version 3.2.3 and latest Cashbah version.
Adam Kożuch (@adamkozuch)
cats-effect 1.0.0-RC2

This is the second and final release candidate before 1.0 — it's not a planned release candidate, but due to a flurry of activity and awesome PRs from FS2, Monix and Http4s contributors, we can't release a 1.0 with so much being added, a total of 35 PRs, which aren't light at all, a record for this project.
